President John Dramani Mahama has reassured the Chief Executives and business leaders of the government’s resolve to build a favourable investment climate for growth.
He gave the pledge during a courtesy visit at the Presidency in Accra by a team from CEO Network Ghana. The over 130-member team, led by the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CEO Network Ghana and the Ghana CEO Summit, Mr Ernest De-Graft Egyir, was at the Presidency to invite the President to be Guest of Honour at this year’s Ghana CEO Summit scheduled for 28th May, 2026.
President Dramani Mahama said the government highly values their input and is prepared to work with them to expand opportunities for job creation and shared wealth.
He assured them that his administration would work hard to keep economic gains. According to him, the 24-Hour Economy Policy remains a vital step to boost production, maximise infrastructure and raise job creation. “Government deeply values the contribution that you’re making as we believe rebuilding and transforming the Ghanaian economy must be done in close partnership with the private sector,” the president noted.
As part of government’s Accelerated Export Agenda, the President said his focus was on value addition and diversification, as Ghana could no longer depend on shipping out raw materials.
“I therefore encourage your members to assess opportunities within this framework and engage the government in the support needed to implement this effectively,” he said.
President Dramani Mahama vowed to maintain fiscal discipline, cut waste and channel funds into productive programs, such as the Big Push infrastructure programme, Adwumawura, and the Free Primary Healthcare. “Our GDP has surpassed the $100 billion mark; it is estimated at about $114 billion. And we have jumped from number 11 in Africa to number 8 in Africa in terms of GDP size. Our debt has been reduced to sustainable levels”, he said.
“The business environment today is stronger than it was in the recent past, as business confidence has revived. Foreign direct investment is increasing, and domestic investment is also picking up.”
The President also touched on moves to curb corruption and boost transparency through the use of advanced technology, including AI, in calculating duties and levies.Mr Ernest De-Graft Egyir, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CEO Network Ghana and the Ghana CEO Summit, praised President Mahama’s strong leadership in responsible debt management, fiscal consolidation and the renewed focus on restoring macroeconomic stability of the nation.
