President John Dramani Mahama has applauded the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Management Board (POMAB) for their ongoing drive against armed robbery and organised crime and for their push to reshape the Ghana Police Service.
The President spoke at the official opening of the Odumase Krobo Laasi Divisional Police Headquarters, hailing the Inspector-General of Police and POMAB for what he termed their quiet but highly effective role in combating crime.
He commended Police Service leaders for stepping up action against criminal groups and boosting public safety nationwide.
He observed that current reforms and tactical plans rolled out by the Police Administration were making a major difference in law enforcement and security results across the country.
“I also want to take this opportunity to commend the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Management Board, his leadership team, for their dedication to transforming the Police Service,” the President said.
He added: “This Police Management team has been quiet, they don’t make too much noise but they are very effective”.
For his part, IGP Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno thanked the President for his steady backing in strengthening Ghana’s security setup. He pointed to government’s investment in re-equipping the Service, especially the supply of armoured vehicles, saying it has been vital in aiding operations and foiling several robbery attempts.
The IGP restated the Police Administration’s pledge to keep up the pace in fighting crime and to guarantee the safety and security of all citizens.
