President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his administration’s commitment to achieving universal access to electricity, describing reliable and affordable power as a cornerstone of Ghana’s development agenda.
Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Friday, February 27, the President said expanding electricity coverage remains a top priority for his government.
“We’re committed to ensuring that every Ghanaian has access to electricity,” he stated.
He explained that ongoing investments in power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure are designed to strengthen supply stability and extend coverage, particularly to underserved and rural communities.
According to President Mahama, broadening access to electricity is essential for driving industrialisation, creating jobs and improving living standards across the country.
He assured Parliament that the government will intensify efforts to close existing gaps in coverage and ensure reliable nationwide access to power as part of its long-term economic transformation strategy.
