President John Mahama has called on Russian President, Vladimir Vladimovich Putin to pursue a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war, warning that continued conflicts were causing deaths, human suffering and major disruptions to global supply chains.
Speaking at the plenary session of the 3rd Russia-Africa Summit on Thursday, October 29, President Mahama urged world leaders to seek amicable resolution to conflicts and strengthen international cooperation for lasting peace.
“We appreciate your willingness to resume trilateral talks in respect of the conflict with Ukraine and your call for a lasting peace agreement and security for both Russia and Ukraine,” President Mahama told President Putin.
He said wars around the world have not only inflicted human suffering but have also severely disrupted global logistics and value chains, making coordinated efforts to restore peace and stability critical.
President Mahama also called for stronger international solidarity in the fight against terrorism, particularly in the Alliance of Sahelian States, where insecurity remains a major concern.
