President John Dramani Mahama is set to travel to France on Monday, April 6, 2026, for an official visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President will first attend the 2026 One Health Summit in Lyon before proceeding to Paris for bilateral engagements at the Élysée Palace.
President Mahama is expected to co-chair the high-level segment of the summit alongside President Macron. The event will convene global leaders, health ministers, and experts to deliberate on key issues such as global health systems, sustainable food production, and responses to emerging health challenges.
He will deliver two keynote addresses during the summit. The first will be at a session on global health architecture, co-chaired by President Macron and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization, where discussions will focus on reforms to international health initiatives and a proposed political declaration to strengthen global cooperation.
The second address will open the high-level segment for heads of state, during which President Mahama is expected to outline Ghana’s position and commitments on global health security.
On Wednesday, April 8, President Mahama will hold bilateral talks with President Macron, with discussions expected to centre on enhancing cooperation between Ghana and France in areas including health, education, trade, investment, and regional security.
Ahead of the meeting at the Élysée Palace, the President will also be received by Gérard Larcher at the French Senate.
President Mahama is expected to return to Accra shortly after concluding his engagements.
