Story By: Juliet Akosua Danquah

President John Mahama has announced plans to launch a cutting-edge Green City project, with the Minister of Finance set to allocate funds for feasibility studies and design.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Multi-purpose Solar Energy Project at the Dawa Industrial Park, Mahama outlined the city’s features, including modern infrastructure, advanced drainage systems, and commercial hubs. The proposed Green City, stretching from Saglemi Housing Estate to the Bondase Military Range, will connect the Volta and Eastern Regions.

“This city will attract investment, tourism, and showcase smart technology,” Mahama said. The project will prioritize sanitation, regulated markets, and prohibit informal kiosks. Mahama emphasized that the feasibility study and design will commence by year-end, with budgetary provisions already underway. “The Green City will be a game-changer for Ghana, setting a new standard for urban development,” he added.
