The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has taken a swipe at Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for not speaking out on the alleged sexual abuse case at Obuasi Senior High Technical School involving headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai.
He described her quiet stance as worrying, especially when many women and young girls looked up to her to champion issues affecting their security and well-being.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Wednesday, October 21, he said as the first woman to occupy the Vice Presidency, Prof Opoku-Agyemang is expected to be at the forefront when it comes to defending children, particularly female students.
According to him, her high office gives her a rare platform to stand up for girls and to show concern whenever reports of abuse against children surface.
“People expect to hear the Vice-President’s voice, whether you like it or not. They expect that the female Vice-President should stand up for girls, should stand up for the female child. And the silence is very loud,” he stated.
His reaction comes after the interdiction of Mr Abdulai over allegations of sexual misconduct involving several female students of Obuasi SHTS.
Police records indicate that on August 4, 2026, a 20-year-old Form Two student of the school, in the company of her father, reported a case to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit in Obuasi.
