MTN Ghana has been recognised as Ghana’s fastest mobile network and the top fixed network in both Ghana and West Africa, clinching three Ookla Speedtest Awards at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona earlier this year.

MTN Ghana secured Fastest Mobile Network in Ghana and Best Fixed Network in Ghana and also earned the title of Best Fixed Network in Western Africa. The honours are based on independent data pulled from millions of actual consumer speed tests run via Ookla’s Speedtest platform, the globe’s most common tool for real-world internet performance.

MTN Ghana logged a Speedtest Connectivity Score of 67.16, beating several operators across West Africa, including carriers in Mauritania, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria. This outcome puts MTN Ghana among a small set of network operators globally to satisfy Ookla’s strict performance standards.

Speaking on the awards, the MTN Ghana Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Blewett, said, ‘’These recognitions from Ookla reflect the significant investments we continue to make in our network to deliver faster, more reliable connectivity for our customers. At MTN Ghana, we believe that a strong, dependable network is fundamental to expanding digital access, driving economic growth and supporting Africa’s progress. I am proud of our teams, whose dedication and expertise continue to raise the bar for network excellence in Ghana and across the region.’’

‘’We are now ramping up our network sites deployments. And why are we doing that? Because it gives a better quality of service to our customers.’’ Stephen added.

For his part, the Chief Technology Officer at MTN Ghana, Reuben Opata, congratulated the MTN team, emphasising that the company remains focused on delivering a better network experience to customers. “We remain committed to building a network that delivers consistent, high-quality experiences for our customers and to continuously improve connectivity across the country.”

The Speedtest Awards are among the telecom sector’s most trusted performance honours, rating operators on speed, coverage, consistency and overall user experience, judged entirely through real customer testing.

These awards reflect targeted network upgrades and modernisation done across the country by MTN Ghana, including capacity boosts in radio, transport infrastructure and engineering upgrades. MTN Ghana’s investment push is set to speed up further.

During his trip to Ghana, the MTN Group Chief Executive Officer, Ralph Mupita, revealed plans to invest US$1.1 billion in the country over the next three years, aimed at stronger infrastructure and better service delivery across the network.

MTN Ghana stays focused on providing dependable connectivity that backs Ghana’s economic growth and Africa’s digital future.End.Media Contacts:Adwoa Wiafe
