The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has dealt a significant blow to illegal mining operations in the Bole/Bamboi area of the Savannah Region.
On Friday, July 25, 2025, the Task Force seized a substantial cache of equipment and materials used in galamsey activities.

The seizure follows the arrest of 11 Chinese nationals at the same site a day earlier, demonstrating NAIMOS’ determination to dismantle illegal mining networks. According to a statement by government spokesperson Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the Task Force confiscated several vehicles, including four Shacman tipper trucks, one bulldozer, and one low bed, among others.
Other seized items include 10 drums of engine oil, 28 assorted Richlion tires, and motorbikes. The confiscated equipment and items have been transported to the NAIMOS headquarters in Accra for further investigations and directives.

The Task Force has reiterated its commitment to continuing similar operations in the area and beyond, aimed at protecting Ghana’s environment and natural resources from the devastating effects of illegal mining. NAIMOS maintains that these ongoing exercises are crucial to safeguarding the country’s water bodies, forest reserves, and farmlands from further destruction.
