A nationwide technical failure is disrupting electronic health records, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has confirmed. This follows patient complaints in the Ashanti Region about significant delays, as hospitals are forced to switch to manual record-keeping.
A recent visit to hospitals in Ejisu, Suntreso, and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital confirmed that staff are now manually writing patient details, leading to longer waits and slower services.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the NHIA assured the public that the Ministry of Health (MoH) and partners are working to resolve the issue swiftly. All credentialed health providers have been instructed to continue offering care without interruption to NHIS members.
To maintain services, providers should use a mobile phone-based platform to generate essential Claims Check Codes. The NHIA has stressed that members should not face any extra charges due to the system outage and has asked those with problems to call its support line on 054-444-6447.
The Authority thanked both healthcare workers and the public for their patience while the problem is being fixed.
