President John Dramani Mahama has categorically stated that the government will not sponsor Ghanaian fans to the 2026 World Cup due to the high cost.
Speaking at a fundraising campaign, he cited the Dzamefe Report’s warning against using public funds for such purposes.
Flying and accommodating 200 supporters could cost nearly $2 million. President Dramani Mahama emphasised responsible use of public resources, prioritizing areas like job creation. Fans will need private funding or sponsorships to attend the tournament in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
