The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a viral video showing a civilian wearing a police uniform.

The arrest was carried out by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team after the footage, which circulated widely on social media, sparked public concern.

The suspect, identified as Esther Obasi, was seen in the video dressed in official police camouflage and a standard black police uniform.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, established a link between the suspect and a serving officer.

The officer was subsequently invited to assist with investigations and later produced the suspect.

He reportedly told investigators that he had given the uniform to the suspect to wash for him.

The suspect is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations, as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
