The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspected armed robbers following an intelligence-led operation in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, while a fourth suspect reportedly died during the operation.
The suspects were identified as Abdulai Ibrahim, Amadu Rahman, Amadu Sulemana, also known as Saaga, and Adu Yakubu.
According to police, the suspects were arrested on May 5, 2026, in connection with a series of robbery attacks in the Talensi District and parts of the North East Region.
Investigators said the group allegedly assembled at Gbane on May 4 after travelling from Yagaba and Fumbisi to carry out a robbery operation.

Police stated that the suspects allegedly robbed four motorbikes and several mobile phones from victims during the attacks.
In a statement, the police said the suspects confessed during interrogation to multiple robbery incidents along the Yagaba-Fumbisi and Yagaba-Nanguruma roads.
The suspects also allegedly admitted involvement in the robbery attack on the Vikandi Phone Shop on March 22, 2025 — an incident that drew widespread public attention after a viral video showed armed men carrying an AK-47 rifle during the robbery.
According to investigators, the group further confessed to several attacks on mining sites in Gbane, where they allegedly stole gold and large sums of money from miners and residents.
Police said the suspects later led officers to a farm near Biung, close to Gbane, where gang leader Amadu Rahman had allegedly concealed an AK-47 assault rifle.
A search conducted at the location reportedly led to the retrieval of the rifle, bearing serial number 68100563, along with 87 rounds of live ammunition hidden in a fertiliser sack.
However, during the recovery operation, Amadu Rahman reportedly collapsed. He was rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said his body has been deposited at the hospital morgue pending preservation and autopsy.
The remaining three suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court to face prosecution.
