The Ghana Police Service in Dzodze has initiated investigations into the death of a 57-year-old man whose body was discovered in a bush near Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School (DZOSEC).

The incident was reported to the Dzodze Police Station on Thursday at approximately 14:45 hours by Mr Theophilus Amanyo, 41, and Mr Richard Yao Amanyo, who identified the deceased as their brother, Mr Joseph Amanyo.

Police officers dispatched to the scene found the deceased hanging from a neem tree with a rope tied around his neck. He was dressed in a cream-coloured long-sleeved shirt, grey trousers, and grey sandals.

According to police, a preliminary inspection of the scene revealed no immediate signs of third-party involvement. An initial examination of the body also showed no visible indications of physical assault.

The body was subsequently transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where a medical officer, Dr Owusu Samuel Gyedu, confirmed the death. The remains have been deposited at the hospital morgue pending an autopsy to establish the precise cause of death.

Investigations are ongoing.
