Razak Opoku Warns of “Most Marketed Candidate” Fallacy

Renowned political analyst and academic, Razak Kojo Opoku (PhD), has sounded the alarm on the pitfalls of prioritising marketing over substance in politics.

In a statement, Dr. Opoku highlighted the crucial differences between a candidate’s marketability and their actual viability in the electoral marketplace.

He noted that being the most marketed candidate doesn’t necessarily translate to being the most sellable or preferred by voters.

“A candidate’s market presence doesn’t automatically equate to dominance in the market or among voters. Furthermore, a highly marketed candidate may not be the most acceptable or preferred choice among voters,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the electoral market has complex dynamics, where even the most marketed candidates can experience declining sales due to various factors.

To understand these dynamics, Dr. Opoku recommended conducting thorough market research and analysis to identify areas for improvement.

He also warned that excessive sycophancy and complacency can lead to the downfall of a highly marketed candidate and their organization. Regular reviews of the prevailing market reality are essential to stay competitive.
