The Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Hassan Tampuli, has called on the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to accept former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s request for a virtual session amid ongoing investigations. This comes after the OSP announced plans to initiate an INTERPOL red notice against Ofori-Atta for failing to honor invitations for questioning.
He argued that the OSP should leverage digital platforms to facilitate engagement, citing the importance of adapting to technological advancements. “In this era of digitisation, we should be able to see some amount of change,” he said. “The OSP should take advantage of this digital platform and engage him.”
Mr. Ofori-Atta had requested a virtual session, citing medical complications, but the OSP insists that no medical report has been submitted to justify his absence. Despite this, Tampuli believes the OSP should consider alternative options for engagement. The OSP’s Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, had announced the decision to pursue an INTERPOL red notice during a press conference in Accra.
