President John Dramani Mahama has called a meeting with the Managing Director of TDC Company Limited, Courage Nunekpeku; Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ebi Bright; the Minister for Local Government; and the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources to discuss a row over a development project at Community One Site Three in Tema.
The meeting is set for Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., and will focus on the issues tied to the project and the differing stands of TDC and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA).
The instruction, given on the President’s orders on Friday, August 14, follows a deadlock between the TMA and TDC over the ongoing construction and land-filling work.
The TMA has ordered TDC to stop the project, claiming it is being carried out without the necessary approval.
The Assembly has also pointed to complaints from residents, including the reported cutting down of about 50 trees, pulling down of structures, takeover of playgrounds and green areas and blocking of access roads.
The disagreement has raised fresh concerns about how public spaces in the community are being developed and used. The meeting on Monday is expected to give all key parties a chance to address the concerns, explain their positions and agree on the next steps for the project.
