Police have launched a manhunt after a man and his niece were gunned down at their home in NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in what is believed to be a row over a GH¢500,000 loan.

The victims, 57-year-old George Atubiga and 47-year-old Irene Atubiga, were shot on Friday, October 30, 2026.

According to the Accra Regional Police Command, initial findings show George Atubiga allegedly took GH¢500,000 from the suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, and failed to pay it back.

On the morning of the incident, the suspect reportedly stormed the house with a woman, Beatrice Mumuni, to collect the money.

An argument broke out and he allegedly opened fire, killing both victims on the spot. They were taken to the hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival. The bodies are now at the Police Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The Baatsona Divisional Command has taken over the investigation as police intensify efforts to arrest the suspect.

The police are urging the public to volunteer any information that could lead to his capture.
