The University of Ghana will reopen for the 2026/2027 academic year on Monday, October 19, following the suspension of the strike by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).
In a notice dated October 16, 2026, the University announced that students could begin reporting to their halls of residence on October 19, while lectures are scheduled to commence on October 26.
The notice, signed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Professor Gordon A. Awandare, said the decision was taken by the Business and Executive Committee at a meeting on October 16.
Under the reopening schedule, the random allocation of beds is scheduled for October 16, while orientation for fresh students will take place from October 21 to 23.
The University has urged students to pay the required fees and complete their academic registration online through the Students’ STS portal or the DiGradsys portal, following the prescribed procedures.
Management also encouraged students to comply with all registration requirements to ensure a smooth reopening and the timely commencement of lectures.
The reopening follows GAUA’s decision to suspend its strike, which had disrupted academic activities at the University.
