Eleven people sustained injuries following a road crash at Eduadjei on the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway on Tuesday evening.
According to the Central Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service, the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when an Opel Astra with registration number WR 4860-13, travelling from Cape Coast towards Komenda, collided head-on with a Nissan mini bus (CR 1414-23) en route from Takoradi to Cape Coast.
Ten passengers aboard the Nissan mini bus — eight males and two females — were rescued by passersby and transported to the Elmina Polyclinic for medical treatment.
Fire officers who arrived at the scene worked to extricate the driver of the Opel Astra, who was trapped in the wreckage after the collision. He was later conveyed to the same facility by the National Ambulance Service.
Rescue teams subsequently cleared debris from the highway to restore traffic flow and secure the area.
Authorities say the cause of the crash has not yet been established, and investigations are ongoing.
