England and Ghana battled to a 0–0 draw in their Group L meeting at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Boston, a game marked by wasted chances, tight defending and a superb showing from goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.
England controlled much of the match and carved out the better openings, especially after the break, but poor finishing and Ghana’s stubborn defence kept them out.
The Three Lions nearly broke through in the 86th minute when Bukayo Saka tested Asare with a low drive from distance, set up by Declan Rice’s header. Moments later, Nico O’Reilly struck the bar with a header, underlining England’s struggles in the final third.
Harry Kane missed a prime chance earlier, blazing over from close range, while efforts from Noni Madueke and Elliot Anderson were either blocked or saved as England pressed late on.Ghana spent most of the game absorbing pressure but looked dangerous on the break.
Prince Adu had a shot blocked in the second half, and Antoine Semenyo was flagged offside after a quick forward move. Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu helped spark transitions, though clear opportunities were scarce for the Black Stars. The result leaves Group L wide open after both sides shared the points in Boston.
