A new Ghanaian neo-noir film, Two, is set to offer audiences a gripping exploration of crime, redemption and the difficult choices that define human nature.
Produced by Bravado!, LL Productions, Apstairs Media and WM Media, the film follows a man who abandons his life of crime after deliberately botching a task.
Determined to leave his past behind, he embraces a quiet and conservative life within a church, where he falls in love with and marries Elara, a young woman in the congregation.
However, just as he begins to settle into married life, his past returns in the form of his former mentor and boss, Vic.
Vic’s reappearance forces him onto a dangerous path as he attempts to tie up loose ends and sever his connection to his former life once and for all.
Two explores themes of duality, good versus evil, perception versus reality and moral ambiguity.
Accra’s light and dark sides
Set against the bustling backdrop of Accra and its surrounding communities, the film combines the high-energy experience of city life with the culture and rhythms of a small Ghanaian church.
The producers say the setting deliberately juxtaposes the light and darker sides of the city, creating a candid backdrop for a story centred on conflicting identities and choices.
The film features Marcus Koranteng, Gideon Boakye, Elara Adjei, Dela Seade, Vic Togbor, Senanu Gbedawor, Inspector Obeng and Louis Lamis.
According to the producers, Two is intended to challenge audiences to look beyond easy judgments.
“This film is not a moral indictment; it is an invitation to empathy,” they said.
“We want viewers to sit with discomfort, to refuse quick condemnation. We want them to recognise a piece of themselves in the choices made on screen; to ask what they might do when the lights go out and the bills remain.”
