A new Ghanaian neo-noir film, Two, is set to offer audiences a gripping exploration of crime, redemption and the difficult choices that define human nature.

Produced by Bravado!, LL Productions, Apstairs Media and WM Media, the film follows a man who abandons his life of crime after deliberately botching a task.

Determined to leave his past behind, he embraces a quiet and conservative life within a church, where he falls in love with and marries Elara, a young woman in the congregation.

However, just as he begins to settle into married life, his past returns in the form of his former mentor and boss, Vic.

Vic’s reappearance forces him onto a dangerous path as he attempts to tie up loose ends and sever his connection to his former life once and for all.

Two explores themes of duality, good versus evil, perception versus reality and moral ambiguity.

Accra’s light and dark sides

Set against the bustling backdrop of Accra and its surrounding communities, the film combines the high-energy experience of city life with the culture and rhythms of a small Ghanaian church.

The producers say the setting deliberately juxtaposes the light and darker sides of the city, creating a candid backdrop for a story centred on conflicting identities and choices.

The film features Marcus Koranteng, Gideon Boakye, Elara Adjei, Dela Seade, Vic Togbor, Senanu Gbedawor, Inspector Obeng and Louis Lamis.

According to the producers, Two is intended to challenge audiences to look beyond easy judgments.

“This film is not a moral indictment; it is an invitation to empathy,” they said.

“We want viewers to sit with discomfort, to refuse quick condemnation. We want them to recognise a piece of themselves in the choices made on screen; to ask what they might do when the lights go out and the bills remain.”

Experienced filmmakers lead production

The production team includes Nana Asihene, Louis Lamis, Aphua Larbi-Amoah, Isaac ‘Yaw Skyface’ Mensah and John ‘Kwame Black’ Markin.

Nana Kofi Asihene, who serves as Director and Producer, is an award-winning filmmaker and creative consultant with extensive experience in music videos, short films and commercials.

Having worked on more than 150 music videos, short films and commercials, he has developed a distinctive visual approach that uses metaphor and visual relationships to explore social issues and provoke reflection.

His background in music, photography, fashion and production design also brings a broad creative perspective to the project.

Louis Lamis serves as the Writer of Two. An award-winning director and producer with nearly two decades of experience, he has created content across theatre, television, radio, film and documentary.

His body of work includes more than 100 stage plays, over 400 television episodes and more than 350 radio drama episodes.

Aphua Larbi-Amoah joins the production as a Producer. A producer and writer, she has worked on several local and international projects, beginning her career as a production assistant before progressing to producing on various sets.

Isaac ‘Yaw Skyface’ Mensah also serves as a Producer. A cinematographer and filmmaker with more than a decade of experience, he began his creative career after graduating from Takoradi Technical University and went on to direct music videos for several leading artistes.

Over the past five years, he has also directed and produced several films that have received positive reviews.

John ‘Kwame Black’ Markin serves as Director of Photography. His work focuses on using visual storytelling to explore both the simple and complex details of life from different perspectives.

In the past three years, he has worked on projects including The High Life, Nyame Mma, Paapa’s Life Lessons and Vagabonds.

With its combination of neo-noir storytelling, Accra’s vibrant urban landscape and a narrative centred on the struggle between past and present, Two is positioning itself as a thought-provoking addition to Ghana’s growing contemporary film scene.
