Head coach Carlos Queiroz says the Ghana national football team will fight for every moment on the pitch when the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
Queiroz is preparing to lead Ghana to its fifth FIFA World Cup appearance since the country made its tournament debut in Germany in 2006.
The Portuguese coach is currently in the United Kingdom with some members of the national team as preparations continue ahead of Ghana’s international friendly against Wales national football team on June 2.
The match forms part of the Black Stars’ preparations for the World Cup as Queiroz works toward finalising his squad for the tournament.
While many supporters continue to await the official squad announcement, the Ghana coach took to social media to reassure fans about the mentality and commitment his team intends to display at the global tournament.
“To All Black Stars Football Fans,” the statement began.
“Today, with 24 days remaining before our first World Cup challenge, we begin what many may call a Mission (Im)possible.”
“We know the price that must be paid — sacrifice, discipline, relentless effort, and total dedication — if we are to honour the dreams and expectations of the people of Ghana.”
According to Queiroz, the team’s ambition requires a different mindset and unwavering commitment.
“If our dream is to make the difference at the end, we have to start by being different at the beginning,” he stated.
“And when the mission is to serve the pride, prestige, and football soul of Ghana, pain becomes a privilege, sacrifice becomes duty, and commitment becomes our identity.”
The former Portugal national football team coach assured supporters that the Black Stars are prepared to compete with determination and unity throughout the tournament.
“We are ready to fight together for every ball, every moment, for our dream,” he said.
“One Team. 33 million hearts. One heartbeat.”
“The journey starts now. Enjoy it!”
