The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced widespread power interruptions across several regions on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, citing a combination of planned maintenance works and technical faults.

Planned Maintenance in Multiple Regions

In the Eastern Region, power supply will be interrupted from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to facilitate maintenance works. Communities expected to be affected include Pikiku, Mame Krobo, Tease, Forifori, Donkorkrom, Amankwah, Asanyansu, Ekye, Adawso, Bruben and nearby areas.

In the Tema Region, maintenance activities scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. will affect Communities 3 and 5, New York, Switzerland, Aviation, Emef Estates (Lashibi), High Tension, Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono Estates, Jotafa, Jubail Hospital, Tsopoli, Agortor, Shilo, Luta, Nana Farms, Atlantic Quarries and surrounding communities.

For the Accra East Region, planned maintenance from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. will impact parts of Nanakrom, Little Roses, Akporman, Boi, Seseme, Ashongman, the Bank of Ghana area and nearby locations.

In the Accra West Region, customers in Darkuman, Kokompe, Israel Park, Israel Filling Station, Ayigbe Junction and surrounding communities will experience power outages from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. due to maintenance works.

The Volta Region will also be affected, with outages expected between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in Kopeiya, Nakyikope, parts of Akatsi Township, Ave Town, Dzodze and neighbouring communities.

The Ashanti Region is scheduled for multiple maintenance exercises. The first, running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., will affect several communities, including Nerebehi, Adankwame, Kontomire, Asakraka, Mfensi, Mpasatia, Kronum Cement, Heman, Amoaman, Nketia, Asuofua, CONSAR Quarry, Adugyama, Naachia Quarry, Barekese, Abira, Offinso, Namong, Kayera, Tutuase, Nsuotam, Kyerekrom, Boamang, Tetrem, Habitat, Ahenkro, Kwamang, Kodie, Akrofrom, Aduman, Aduamoah, Denase, Pampatia, KCG Company and surrounding areas.

A second maintenance exercise, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will affect Atonsu, Gyinyase, Ahinsan Estates, Kotei, Chirapatre and nearby communities. A third maintenance operation will impact Oseiakrom, Denyaaifokrom, Kwame Nkwanta, Safokrom, Sumkyreikrom, Omandwareye, Yawhemekrom, Atobrakrom, Siabotare, Kwakukrom, Miawoani, Antoakrom, Bensaso, Mpraniae, Akropong, Mem, Ankam, Odaho, Mpatasie and surrounding areas.

Fault-Related Outages

Meanwhile, a number of communities are experiencing unplanned outages due to technical faults.

In the Western Region, a broken high-tension pole at Ankasa has disrupted power supply to Asemkrom, Jema, Boinso, Omanpe, Kwahu, Atokosue, Nkwanta, Enchi Township, Elubo, Nyankamam, Akontonbra, New Yakasi, Old Yakasi, Adjakaa, Achimfo, Abokyia and surrounding communities. ECG says engineers are working to repair the fault and restore supply.

In the Accra West Region, a technical challenge at the Nsawam Primary Station has resulted in outages affecting Hebron, Medie, Samsam, Satellite, Koleman and neighbouring areas.

The Ashanti West Region is also experiencing disruptions following a transformer fault at the Adum Central Business Centre near Old Melcom, affecting parts of the central business district and adjoining communities.

ECG Apologises to Customers

ECG has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outages and advised customers in affected areas to make alternative arrangements for activities that depend on electricity during the maintenance periods.

The company further urged the public to report electrical hazards and to treat all fallen power lines as live and potentially dangerous.

According to ECG, power supply will be restored to all affected communities immediately after the completion of scheduled maintenance works or once technical faults have been rectified.
