In a significant development, the Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command has intercepted a truck carrying electrical cables believed to be part of the missing containers from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at Tema Port.

According to reports, the truck, registered GC 7410-11, was stopped at Gomoa Awombrew in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region. The vehicle had broken down near Awombrew in Agona Swedru, raising suspicions about its cargo. A subsequent inspection led to the arrest of the driver and three passengers onboard.

Police sources have confirmed that the four suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to determine the origin and intended destination of the cables. The police are working to establish whether the cables were indeed stolen from the ECG containers at Tema Port.

This development is a significant step towards addressing the issue of missing ECG containers and cables, which has been a concern for the company and the general public. The ECG has been working to replace the missing cables, which has affected power supply in some areas.
