The Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Khadija Iddrisu, has received the open letters of the Ambassador-designate of China to Ghana, Cong Song, at a brief ceremony in Accra.
The ceremony, held on Monday, March 30, 2026, formally marked the commencement of the envoy’s diplomatic engagement in the country.
Ambassador Iddrisu congratulated Mr. Cong Song on his appointment and welcomed him to Ghana, highlighting the long-standing partnership between Ghana and the People’s Republic of China.
She noted the steady growth in bilateral relations, particularly in trade, infrastructure development, and capacity building, and commended China’s continued cooperation with Ghana on multilateral platforms.
The Chief Director also expressed appreciation for China’s support for the recently adopted United Nations resolution declaring the trafficking of enslaved Africans and racialised chattel enslavement as the gravest crime against humanity.

In his remarks, Ambassador-designate Cong Song thanked the Ministry for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries.
He pointed to the increasing trade volumes, the expanding presence of Chinese enterprises in Ghana, as well as ongoing educational exchanges and development cooperation initiatives as indicators of deepening relations.
The envoy further indicated China’s readiness to support the government’s Reset Agenda, noting that the embassy would work closely with the Ministry to advance practical cooperation between Ghana and China.
The engagement underscores ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen diplomatic and economic relations while exploring new areas of collaboration.
