Former Interior Minister Henry Quartey has denied claims that he personally benefited from government land allocations during his time in office.
Speaking on the Dwaso Nsem programme on Adom FM on March 12, the former Greater Accra Region minister said all lands he allocated were meant for public use.
“I didn’t take any government land during my time as Interior Minister. All the lands I allocated were for public use and meant to benefit the general public, not for my personal benefit,” he said.
Mr Quartey explained that about 15 acres of land at Agbogbloshie were allocated during his tenure to support the construction of a hospital under the government’s Agenda 111 initiative.
He said the land was intended to support improved healthcare infrastructure for residents.
The former minister also disclosed that after leaving office, he was evicted from the property where he had been living, and the structure was demolished a few days later.
Mr Quartey maintained that all decisions he made regarding land allocation were guided by the public interest.
He reiterated that he did not acquire any government land for personal use during his time in government.
