Ghana has received a donation of 2,000 metric tons of fertilizer from the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco in a move aimed at strengthening agricultural productivity and supporting national food security efforts.
The handover took place on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at a brief ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Receiving the consignment on behalf of the government, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, expressed appreciation to the Government of Morocco, describing the gesture as both timely and reflective of the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.

He noted that the support aligns with Ghana’s strategic objective of achieving food security, adding that Morocco has also demonstrated readiness to support local fertilizer production in Ghana.
Mr Ablakwa further highlighted expanding cooperation between the two countries in areas such as visa facilitation and sports development, saying these initiatives are deepening people-to-people exchanges and mutual benefits.
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Ghana, Imane Ouaadil, said the donation represents the second consignment of fertilizer support to Ghana, underscoring the depth of longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

She explained that Morocco remains committed to advancing agricultural development across Africa, noting that the support is expected to boost productivity, strengthen resilience in Ghana’s farming sector, and cushion the impact of global challenges such as climate change, supply chain disruptions, and rising fertilizer costs.
Ambassador Ouaadil also commended Ghana’s focus on agriculture as a key driver of sustainable growth and acknowledged the role of OCP Africa in facilitating coordination, farmer support, and capacity-building initiatives.
The Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khadijah Iddrisu, described the donation as a practical outcome of sustained diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

She said it reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that bilateral cooperation delivers tangible benefits to citizens, particularly in strengthening agricultural productivity and food security.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to the Government of Morocco for its continued partnership and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening cooperation in the agricultural sector.
