Seven new justices were sworn into Ghana’s Supreme Court on Thursday, July 3, 2025, by President John Dramani Mahama at a ceremony held at the Jubilee House in Accra. The new justices, comprising experienced jurists promoted from the Court of Appeal, are

  • Justice Senyo Dzamefe
  • Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei
  • Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh
  • Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo
  • Justice Philip Bright Mensah
  • Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo
  • Justice Hafisata Amaleboba

Speaking on behalf of his fellow justices, Justice Senyo Dzamefe assured Ghanaians of the court’s commitment to justice, promising to dispense justice without fear, favor, ill will, or affection. He also expressed gratitude to their families, particularly spouses and children, for their unwavering support during their journey to the apex court.

President Mahama urged the new justices to maintain integrity, fairness, and impartiality, emphasizing that an independent judiciary is crucial for national development. He reminded them of their oath to serve the people of Ghana with honor and uphold the constitution.
