The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cautioned aspirants contesting various constituency executive positions against making cash payments to constituency election committees, stressing that all nomination fees must be paid through the party’s designated online platform.
The warning was issued by the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Haruna Mohammed, following the official opening of nominations nationwide on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Mohammed emphasised that constituency election committees have not been authorised to collect cash payments from aspirants seeking nomination forms.
“Today is the opening of nominations, and people have started purchasing their forms. There is an online portal where you make the payment, then take your receipt to the committee to collect your form,” he said.
“No one should pay money to the elections committee for the form. Make the payment online, submit your receipt to the committee, and then collect your form.”
The party opened nominations on Monday, June 22, with the exercise expected to close on Wednesday, June 24.
According to the party’s electoral timetable, the vetting of aspirants will take place from June 25 to June 27, while appeals arising from the vetting process will be heard between June 28 and June 30.
Constituency executive elections are scheduled to be held nationwide on July 11 and July 12.
Mr Mohammed stated that nomination forms would be available through constituency offices and urged all aspirants to comply fully with the procedures and requirements outlined in the nomination documents.
“All the guidelines in the form should be adhered to by all party members who are interested in contesting,” he advised.
Positions to be contested include Constituency Chairman, First Vice Chairman, Second Vice Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Treasurer and Communications Officer.
Under the party’s guidelines, aspirants must be members in good standing of the NPP and satisfy all eligibility requirements stipulated in the party’s constitution and electoral regulations.
Candidates are also required to complete nomination forms and secure the necessary endorsements before submitting their applications.
The constituency executive elections form part of the NPP’s nationwide reorganisation exercise aimed at strengthening party structures at the grassroots level and preparing the organisation for future political activities.
The exercise follows the successful completion of polling station and electoral area elections across the country as the party continues implementing its internal electoral calendar.
