The National Teaching Council (NTC) has announced a change to the start date of the 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE), citing a statutory public holiday.
In a statement issued on March 16, the Council said the examination, initially scheduled to begin on Monday, March 23, will now start on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
The NTC explained that the adjustment was necessary to accommodate the public holiday and urged candidates and stakeholders to take note and plan accordingly.
Despite the change, all other arrangements remain unchanged. The revised timetable is as follows:
- March 24 — General Professional Knowledge
- March 25 — Grade-Level Specialism Pedagogy
- March 26 — Multiple Subjects Content / Single Subject Specialism
The Council apologised for any inconvenience caused and appealed for understanding from candidates.
The GTLE remains a mandatory requirement for individuals seeking to enter the teaching profession in Ghana, ensuring standards and quality in the education sector.
Candidates have been advised to monitor official NTC communication channels, including its website, for further updates ahead of the exams.
