Background to the Incident
The arrests follow reports of a shooting incident involving Adwoa Safo at a property associated with Israel Safo in the Greater Accra Region.
The incident occurred amid an ongoing succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo, in September 2025.
The dispute has sparked competing claims over the leadership of the church and its affiliated institutions, with legal proceedings currently underway concerning the succession process.
In an earlier statement, members of the Kwadwo Safo family alleged that Adwoa Safo had gone to serve a court injunction intended to halt an installation ceremony involving her younger brother, Israel Safo, when the confrontation occurred.
The family further claimed that gunshots were fired during the incident, allegations that have since become the focus of police investigations.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the full circumstances surrounding the shooting, but say efforts are ongoing to establish the facts and determine any criminal liability arising from the incident.
