The Bono East Regional Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old rickshaw rider after a large quantity of suspected narcotic drugs was discovered following a road accident in Techiman.
The suspect, Robert Tannor, was apprehended on March 8, 2026, after police retrieved 397 slabs of dried plant material, believed to be cannabis, concealed in charcoal bags at the scene.

Police reports indicate that Tannor was riding an unregistered Motor King tricycle, popularly known as an “aboboyaa,” near Techiman Methodist Park at around 2:00 p.m., when he collided with a stationary Kia Rhino truck.
Officers who responded initially found 14 bags of charcoal being transported on the tricycle. Further inspection revealed compressed slabs of suspected cannabis hidden inside the bags.
Tannor sustained serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to Holy Family Hospital for treatment, where he remains under police guard.

The driver of the Kia Rhino truck reportedly fled the scene. Police are actively tracing the individual and have appealed to the public for information that could aid the investigation.
The Bono East Regional Police Command said the arrest underscores their continued commitment to combating illegal narcotics trafficking in the region.
