Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) has issued an unqualified apology following a viral video showing an assault involving some of its students and a student from Obrachire Senior High School.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the school’s management, staff and students said they were deeply disturbed by the incident, describing the conduct captured in the video as unacceptable and inconsistent with the institution’s values and disciplinary standards. The school noted that the behaviour also contravenes its Code of Conduct and regulations of the Ghana Education Service (GES).
“As an institution committed to academic excellence, character formation and responsible citizenship, we strongly condemn this act,” the statement said, adding that the school does not condone violence or any behaviour that undermines the safety and dignity of others.
Management apologised to the GES headquarters, the Central Regional and Agona West Municipal Directorates of Education, the management and students of Obrachire Senior High School, the affected student and family, old students, parents and the general public.
The school also disclosed that it is cooperating fully with security agencies, noting that the students involved are currently assisting with investigations. It assured stakeholders that appropriate disciplinary sanctions would be applied based on the outcome.
SWEBUS further pledged to strengthen guidance, counselling and disciplinary measures to prevent a recurrence, while intensifying character education to promote respect, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among students.
Management appealed for calm as investigations continue, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining a safe and disciplined learning environment.
