Two young siblings at Trinity Methodist Preparatory School at Egyaa in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region were allegedly caned a total of 60 times by a teacher after sitting on chairs arranged for a school event without permission.

The pupils, aged 10 and 8, were reportedly punished by the teacher, identified as Sir Ebenezer, in an incident that has sparked concern among residents and parents in the community.

According to reports, the older child, a 10-year-old Class Four pupil, received 40 strokes of the cane, while the younger sibling, an eight-year-old Class Two pupil, was given 20 lashes.

The children were said to have sat on chairs arranged for an event on the school premises when the punishment was administered.

The alleged incident has raised questions about discipline practices in schools and the treatment of pupils.

School authorities at Trinity Methodist Preparatory School are yet to respond to the allegations.
