A 14-year-old boy from Mamponteng in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region is undergoing medical care following an alleged assault by a man believed to be in his 50s.
Reports indicate that the suspect, a resident of the same community, allegedly lured the teenager into his room and attacked him.
The situation came to light after the boy’s family observed unusual changes in his movement and sought medical attention. He was rushed to the Methodist Hospital in Ankaase, located in the Afigya Kwabre South District, where health professionals confirmed he had sustained serious injuries and immediately began treatment.
Although the teenager has since been discharged, he continues to attend daily medical reviews. Medical tests, including screening for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, have also been conducted as part of his ongoing care.
Police in Mamponteng have arrested the suspect, identified as Kwadwo Aning, and investigations are currently underway.
The incident has sparked anger among some youth in the community, who allege that the suspect may have been involved in similar cases in the past and are calling for swift justice.
Meanwhile, the boy’s family has appealed for financial support to help cover medical expenses and has urged authorities to ensure that the matter is thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken.
