Two people have been confirmed dead and six others injured following a devastating multi-vehicle collision involving a State Transport Company (STC) bus, two fuel tankers, a Kia Sorento and a Mitsubishi pick-up at Etukrom, near Bunso Junction in the Eastern Region.
The crash, which occurred on Monday, August 3, triggered a massive fire that engulfed the STC bus, one of the fuel tankers and the Mitsubishi pick-up. Two occupants became trapped in the burning vehicles and died at the scene.
The second fuel tanker veered off the road into a nearby river after the collision, where it also caught fire, further complicating emergency response efforts.
Six other victims—comprising four men and two women—sustained varying degrees of injuries and were transported to Hawa Memorial Hospital in Osiem for medical treatment.

Confirming the incident to Citi FM, a member of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Communications Team, Alex King Nartey, said firefighters and other emergency responders were swiftly dispatched to the scene to carry out rescue operations, contain the blaze and assess the extent of the damage.
Authorities have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash and are expected to provide further details once inquiries are completed.
