Africa is no longer just a destination for missionaries but a major force producing and exporting them to the rest of the world, the Global Chair of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, Rev. Dominic Yeo, has said.
He was speaking at the 10th World Assemblies of God Congress at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, on the theme “Commissioned: One Mandate, Every Nation.”
According to Rev. Yeo, the changing pattern of missions signals a major shift in global Christianity, with the Global South now at the forefront of evangelism.
“For many years, missions largely moved from the global north to the global south. Today, we are seeing and setting that shift.
The global south no longer simply receive missionaries. In fact, it is raising and sending missionaries. And Africa has a significant part to play in this global shift,” he stated.
He described Ghana’s hosting of the Congress – the first time in Africa in the 115-year history of the Fellowship – as historic and prophetic, and urged the church to appreciate its importance in driving the global mission agenda.
Rev. Yeo also called on Assemblies of God members to pursue a fresh move of God, inspired by the Book of Acts and the Azusa Street Revival.
“Let’s not see, nor read, both the book of Acts and the Azusa Street Revival, simply as aspirational or inspirational. But let’s believe during this time for a greater move of God than ever because the latter days are better than the former. The latter glory will be greater than the former glory,” he said.
He added that deliberations at the Congress would help chart the future course of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship and its affiliate bodies.
