The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has endorsed a nationwide sensitisation campaign and inter-regional quiz competition on the National Health Insurance Scheme following a meeting with a delegation from the National Health Insurance Authority.
The delegation was led by its Chief Executive, Victor Asare Bampoe, who outlined plans to implement a student-focused educational programme across senior high schools to enhance awareness and understanding of the Scheme.
The initiative, to be carried out in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders, forms part of broader efforts to advance universal health coverage in Ghana.
Mr Iddrisu expressed strong support for the programme and tasked the Ghana Education Service with coordinating its implementation nationwide.
He noted that engaging students through structured educational platforms would deepen their knowledge of the NHIS, promote responsible health-seeking behaviour, and encourage sustained participation in the Scheme.

The quiz competition, scheduled to run from May to November 2026, will be organised on a regional basis, with selected senior high schools representing all 16 regions of the country.
