The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed as false a viral social media statement claiming that floodwaters swept away West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers and that affected candidates would be required to rewrite the examinations.
The widely circulated statement alleged that heavy rains on June 29 washed away some examination papers, making them unavailable for the ongoing WASSCE.
It further claimed that the GES was considering organising a resit for the affected papers and would announce a revised examination timetable and additional details in due course.
However, the Ghana Education Service has described the statement as fake and urged the public to disregard it.
The Service also appealed to students, parents, teachers and the general public to verify information before sharing it and to rely solely on official GES communication channels for accurate updates regarding the ongoing examinations.
GES reiterated that all official announcements concerning the WASSCE will be communicated through its verified platforms.
