President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut the sod in the coming weeks for the construction of three 160-bed Regional Referral Hospitals in the Oti, Savannah and Western North Regions.
Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu announced the development in a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 22, while sharing the architectural design for the proposed Oti Regional Referral Hospital.
According to the Minister, the projects form part of the government’s broader efforts to expand Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality medical and referral services across the country.
He said the Oti facility would strengthen the region’s capacity to provide specialised healthcare and reduce the need for residents to travel outside the region for referral services.
The planned sod-cutting ceremonies for the three hospitals will mark the commencement of projects expected to add significant capacity to referral and specialised healthcare delivery in the Oti, Savannah and Western North Regions.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu said the initiative reflects President Mahama’s commitment to strengthening critical health infrastructure and improving healthcare delivery as part of the government’s development agenda.
