The Central Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has joined forces with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) to step up efforts to curb drug use among road users through a joint sensitisation and enforcement exercise.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Beposo toll booth on the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway, focused on educating drivers and passengers on the dangers of drug-impaired driving.
Officers from the Cape Coast Regional Command, led by Assistant Narcotics Control Officer Andrew Garshong, engaged commuters on the need for responsible road behaviour and heightened awareness.
Drivers were cautioned against the use of substances that could impair judgement, while passengers were encouraged to speak up and report reckless driving or suspicious luggage suspected to contain illicit drugs.
Authorities say the initiative is part of broader efforts to reduce road crashes and promote safer travel, particularly along busy highway corridors.
