The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 45-year-old social media content creator in the Ashanti Region for allegedly publishing false claims about police officers on TikTok.
Isaac Boafo, popularly known as “Duabo King,” was picked up by the Police Intelligence Directorate after posting a viral video alleging that four officers at the Central Police Station in Kumasi engaged in misconduct during night patrols at Asafo.
In a statement dated March 1, 2026, the Ashanti Regional Police Command said Boafo admitted during interrogation that he fabricated the allegations solely to attract views and online engagement. He also conceded that he could not substantiate the claims.
Police further disclosed that Boafo acknowledged making unverified remarks about President John Dramani Mahama for similar content purposes.
He has since been charged and detained to assist with ongoing investigations.
Authorities used the incident to caution the public against spreading false information online, warning that individuals who misuse social media platforms to damage reputations or cause public alarm will face legal consequences.
