President John Dramani Mahama has named Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu as the new Ghanaian High Commissioner-designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The decision comes after the previous envoy, Baba Jamal, was recalled to contest the Ayawaso East by-election, triggered by the passing of lawmaker Nasser Mahama Toure. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared the news in a statement issued on Sunday, March 1.
Baba Sadiq, who stood as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central during the 2024 elections, is tasked with advancing Ghana’s interests in Abuja. His role will focus on fostering stronger political and economic collaboration between the two West African nations.
